Wherever there is wine there is fortified wine.

Fortified wines are made worldwide and are called many different names such as Sherry, Port, Vermouth, Mistelle and Vin Doux Natureles.

They all taste different and all have regional or special names.

It's "fortification" part that gives them the name which, loosely put, is the addition of distilled spirit to grape juice (wine).
